Construction Supervisory Training

(CST Series of Seven Units)

Educational Seminar  

The content of this program was designed for small, medium and large contractors.  The program presents methods and improvement procedures that have been used by service, residential, commercial and industrial contractors to increase productivity, job satisfaction and improve morale between the office and field.  

Instructor: Doug Butler

Doug is the former ABC National Director of Education and Training and is a very personable and engaging construction trainer.  He travels widely across the country and receives ‘excellent’ ratings from ABC chapters and members.  Doug holds both a B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering and worked for 21 years in the construction industry as a supervisor, middle-manager and vice-president of construction operations for highway, commercial and industrial contractors.

_____ Unit 1 Basic & Intermediate Constr. Supervisory Foreman Training      Training Date:  Tuesday, February 24, 2009

This workshop was developed to train existing, new, or future supervisors in the most essential skill areas necessary to be successful in a role as a construction supervisor-foreman.  Emphasis is working with all project team members, supervising subordinates in areas of motivation, leadership, and communication.

  

_____ Unit 2 Construction Planning and Scheduling                                                 Training Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2009

Participants develop project activity breakdowns from example projects to be used in preparing the project plan and schedule.  Various schedules are reviewed with emphasis placed on selecting the method that is best for the size and duration of the project. 

 

_____ Unit 3 Improving Project Reporting and Documentation                         Training Date:  Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The content of this program was designed to cover contract compliance, notice requirements, daily and weekly reports and project progress reporting.  In addition, important correspondence with owners, designers, generals, subcontractors, and inspectors will be presented.   

 

_____ Unit 4 Project Management                                                                                            Training Date: Tuesday, May 12, 2009

The content of this workshop was designed for key supervisors through top management and developed to train program participants in the component tasks from project start to project completion that are necessary for a complete and comprehensive project management system for small, medium, and large projects.

 

_____ Unit5 Productivity Improvement                                                                               Training Date:  Tuesday, August 11, 2009

This workshop was designed to train supervisory-level personnel through top management on how to utilize productivity improvement methods and processes to improve project and personal performance, as well as productivity.

 

_____ Unit 6 Customer Service and Quality Control                                              Training Date:  Tuesday, September 15, 2009

The content of this program was designed to train office and field personnel on how to improve customer service and satisfaction at every level of the organization’s operation.  Emphasis will be placed on learning specific methods and techniques that reduce or eliminate the most common customer service complaints and concerns.

 

_____ Unit 7 Total Quality Management                                                     Training Date:  Tuesday, October 13, 2009

The content of this program was designed to train company management on how to implement total quality management (TQM) in their organization.  The objective is to alleviate, even eliminate, the pain of creating or improving a TQM program.
