2009 FALL PROTECTION SAFETY STAND DOWN

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration has partnered with several construction trade associations across the state to participate in the statewide Fall Protection Safety Stand Down. Participating employers will shut down their jobs on Monday morning, June 1, and train their employees on fall protection for approximately 45-60 minutes.

Publicly funded PLAs are contracts that effectively restrict open shop contractors and their employees - comprising more than 84 percent of the construction workforce - from bidding and working on construction projects.

New Study Exposes Union Slush Funds (05/11/2009)

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced the results of a new study, conducted by George Mason University’s John M. Olin Institute for Employment Practice and Policy, showing that from 2000 to 2007, construction labor unions spent more than $1 billion in union wages to underbid nonunion contractors in a practice called “job targeting.”
