My name in Colin and I am a great lover of DIY. Whether we are talking about cleaning out the gutters, replacing the roof or making and installing a new kitchen – I have done it all!
Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my granddad who was a furniture maker. Through him I developed a great appreciation of wood and I love creating things with my bare hands. My dad was a joiner but he tackled most things that needed to be done on our street. He took pride in everything he did and I think that is something that a lot of people are lacking nowadays. Whether I am changing the cold water system or putting together “flat-pack” furniture, I make sure to do it with the best of my ability and by doing it as well as I can, I can be proud of what I have accomplished.
In today’s day and age we are used to ringing a handyman or professional for every little thing that needs done around the house. We ring a plumber to install a new bathroom, a painter and decorator when we need the house repainted and a gardener when we want to revamp the garden. I am a firm believer in doing things myself and I am convinced most people can do a hell of a lot more than they think they can. However, this does not mean that I think you should deal with potential dangerous issues yourself. If in doubt or if you have issues with your electrics or gas etcetera – please contact a professional!
In this blog I will share some of my knowledge with you and I hope to inspire you to tackle some of the issues around the house yourself. Thanks for stopping by!
